Aurora, also known as Sleeping Beauty, is a central character in Disney's 1959 animated film of the same name, Sleeping Beauty.
She is introduced as Princess Aurora, cursed at birth by the evil fairy Maleficent to die on her sixteenth birthday by pricking her finger on a spinning wheel. To protect her, three good fairies, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, disguise themselves as peasant women and raise her in a secluded cottage.
On her sixteenth birthday, Maleficent's curse is fulfilled. Aurora falls into a deep sleep, only to be awakened by a kiss from Prince Phillip. She is a key member of the Disney Princesses franchise and continues to appear in various Disney media.
